New Surrealism

Exhibiting

I am often asked about where my work can be seen, am I showing in exhibits or in galleries? This is a question that takes a longer answer than you might think, because I have never shown my work until recently. These paintings take a long time to do, for starters, always months. I could never come close to earning minimum wage, and so selling them was never the motive for doing them. And without the monetary incentive, galleries are not interested.

It has always seemed to me that I should keep these paintings together, that having them scattered out in the world somewhere didn’t get them in front of a larger audience. In order to show them I need to have enough to fulfill an exhibit, which means twenty or more pieces. At the time of this writing, I am finishing painting 17, so three more after that one. I want to do another large piece, and so my vague estimate is that I will be “ready” in about late 2025. In the meanwhile, I have started submitting to shows and museums around the Atlanta area. I will try to announce these as soon as I get them.
